Well we know from a literal reading of Genesis 1 that it took six days. From the creation of the universe to the creation of man was six days.
What about those who say that the six days are not 24 hour days? Do you know the best answer to this? The Ten Commandments. Surprised? Look at the 4th commandment as recorded in Exodus 20:
8 "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 "Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
11 "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.
Do you believe God wrote the Ten Commandments? Deuteronomy 9:10 says so:
The LORD gave me [Moses] the two tablets of stone written by the finger of God; and on them were all the words which the LORD had spoken with you at the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.
God said He made the heavens and the earth in six days. Still a doubter?
From the creation of the universe to the creation of man: | 6 days |
Starting in Genesis 5, we see Adam’s age when Seth was born and how old Adam was when he died. This continues all the way to Noah. He lived so many years and he had a son, and he lived so many years and he had a son, he lived so many years and he had a son.
You add up those from the first man, Adam, to the Flood: | 1656 years |
Genesis 11 gives you the chronology from the Flood to Abraham: | 225 years |
Six days, 1656 years, and 225 years...so something under 2000 years and you're at Abraham.
Start in Genesis 12 with Abraham and go through the Old Testament historical books...Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles. Just proceed through those books and you have the chronology from Abraham to the New Testament:
Israelites in Egypt: | 430 years |
Israelites in the wilderness: | 40 years |
Israelites conquering Canaan: | 7 years |
Time of the Judges: | 350 years |
United Kingdom (Saul, David, and Solomon): | 110 years |
Divided Kingdom of Judah and Israel: | 350 years |
Babylonian captivity: | 70 years |
Return and rebuilding of Jerusalem: | 140 years |
Years of silence between Old and New Testament: | 400 years |
From the creation to Abraham is about 2000 years. From Abraham to the New Testament is about 2000 years. And from the beginning of the New Testament to now is about 2000 years.
Tell me again where the millions and billions come in?
